Summary of polarized lens benefits
Ordinary sunglass lenses reduce the amount of visible light entering the eye, but they do not block or eliminate glare.
Glare, what is it? Light enters the earth's atmosphere and travels in many directions.
When this light hits a reflective surface such as water, snow pavement, sand and other nonmetallic surfaces; it becomes aligned, partially polarized and concentraded....this is Glare.
Even though you are looking forward, glare coming from different angles is causing to obstruct your vision, causing you to squint your eyes.
This constant squinting of your eyes and annoyance of the glare goes on to create eye fatigue, headaches and general discomfort from prolonged exposure to glare.
A Polarized lens blocks and eliminates this glare, allowing you to view the world and its surroundings in comfort.
Many sporting activities require focus and concentration on what you are doing.
Golf, tennis, skiing, boating, fishing and many other outdoor leisure sport activities are enjoyed to the fullest extent when wearing Polarized lenses.
Want to see that big fish laying below the surface of the water....you cannot see it while wearing ordinary sunglasses....Glare is obstructing your clear vision.
With Polarized lenses, you acn clearly see below the water surface.
Scatterer light is now being concentrated on the surface of the water and causing an intense glare.
The function of the inner layers, the polarizing layer of the Polarized lens, blocks this glare on the waters surface.
The function of the Polarized element in the lens allows you to perform to your highest level in whatever you are doing.
You may not think of safety when you are thinking about Polarized lenses, but every year many automobile accidents are caused by sun glare.
Glare off the road, glare off another vehicle, glare from a building and other reflective surfaces can cause drivers not to see other vehicles or pedestrains in front of them.
Subsequently an accident in which traffic officers have stated that an accident was caused byglare and may have been avoided if the driver were wearing Polarized Sunglasses so, do not only think about the comfort you obtain with Polarized Sunglasses whil you are driving, but also the safety.
Choose AP Tac Polarized lenses --- These are the benefits:
Actif lenses are made with TAC (Tri-Acetate Cellulose) specifically designed for use in our lenses.
Actif Polarized lenses increase visual acuity and enhance visual performance, wich improves contrast and sharpness in your vision. With the reduction of Glare all objects become more distinct and color more vibrant. Actif Polarized lenses are >99% Polarizing effieiency.
Actif Polarized Lenses block all UV (Ultraviolet) light. Ultraviolet light is divided into 3 segments, UVA, UVB and UVC.
Actif lenses provide protection of 100% of all UV. UV is harmful in different aspects, below are the guidelines in defining UV Light and the harmful affects of each segment of UV Light.
Actif TAC Lenses are stable in hot, cold and humid weather conditions. CAB is susceptible to moisture, it can easily absorb moisture and it can easily loose moisture*the result is lens shrinkage.
A CAB lens will shrink 70% more than TAC, the result can be that the lens wil become loose in the sunglass frame and even fall out of the sunglass frame....TAC Lenses are stable and will not become loose or fall out of the sunglass frame.
Due to CAB Lenses being susceptible to moisture, they can also become absorbed with moisture which results in Lens Haze. Even in a controlled environment, CAB Lenses tend to have inherent haze and when compared side by side to TAC Lenses you can see and feel the difference. TAC Lenses will not absorb moisture and will stay constant with a low haze valeu of 0.4%. (Results from Nippon Hazemeter)
Actif Tac Lenses have a superior bond or adhesion between the Polarizing element and the TAC is on both sides of the Polarizing element.
Through Actif's exclusive technology, we have developed a lens that can be edged, glazed and drilled, without fear of de-lamination.
Tests results prove the superior lamination quality between Actif TAC Lenses verses CAB Lenses.
Using a standart boiling water test, the AP100 lasted 60 minutes without de-lamination.
The 1.1mm CAB started partial de-lamination at 15 minutes and reached full de-lamination at 60 minutes.
Actif Lenses, being made with TAC have superior rigidity. When glazed into a sunglass frame they will be secure, rigid and not susceptible to deforming, wich can lead to optical distortion. CAB lenses and the CAB material itself have less density and it can be easily deformed or warped in the sunglass frame. Even our 0.65mm lens is much more rigid and stable than that of a CAB 0.7mm. If you are looking for superior rigidity, choose the 1.0mm.
AP TAC Lenses are offered with a Hardcoat scratchresistant surface.
AP has a much harder and scratch-resistant surface than other lenses.
AP Lenses go through more process steps and procedures and use an exclusive Hardcoat material to give supreme scratchresistance.
When compared to the existing market of CAB, Actif AP TAC has better scratch-resistance then CAB, and all of the benefits of being a TAC Lens.
Note: Scratch-resistant tests were performed using a COLTS Standard Abrasion Tester. The numerical results above represent the scratch-resistance of the hardcoating to a standard CR39 Lens. The test results show that the ACTIF AP LENS is more than two times the scratch-resistance as compared to a CAB Lens. Also notice that the AP LENS has a superior scratch-resistance as in comparison to all other lenses tested.
Actif Lenses are processed using Actif* exclusively developed tinting processes.
With our ability to process the tinting, we also have the ability to control the quality and consistency of the tint.
Note: Color consistency tests were performed using a Hitachi U3310 Spectrohotometer and Premier Colorlab software and D65 light source illumination. Results are based upon standart CIE L,a,b Color Standards. Test results show that the ACTIF AP Lens has the best color consistency, as stringent processing is used throughout the manufacturing of the AP Lens.
